Meet Meg Searle

Meg Searle is the founder and lead instructor of MamaShakes. She is a performing arts specialist, vocal coach and creative arts practitioner with more than three decades experience teaching in the performing arts.

MamaShakes also grows from Meg’s personal experience. As a 52-year-old mum of four, she understands the demands of busy family life. Her experience of menopause, arthritis, an underactive thyroid and stress has shaped her belief that movement should work with the body rather than punish it.

MamaShakes was created for people who need to move, breathe and reconnect without being judged. Meg’s approach brings together her love of funk and soul, her performing arts experience and her conviction that dance can be joyful, expressive and accessible.

Our Values

Joy over Perfection

Movement should be enjoyable, expressive and life-giving. We celebrate the rhythm of your body and the energy you bring to the groove.

Confidence through Practice

Confidence grows when people have permission to learn without judgement. We create a safe space where you can grow at your own pace.

Listen to your body

Movement should be adaptable and responsive, not punishing. We encourage you to move at your own level and take breaks when needed.

Music matters

Funk and soul bring rhythm, character and feel-good energy. We believe music is the heartbeat of the movement experience.

Everyone starts somewhere

No previous dance experience is necessary. We welcome all bodies, all levels and all experience levels to join us on the dance floor.
